This May was an amazing month for me. I went to Cuba for the first time ever and celebrated my mothers wedding, I had the time of my life! The weather was SO hot, the beaches were unreal, swimming in the ocean felt like you were floating on air, and the sunsets were breath taking. The only thing that was a tad of an adjustment was the food. It was tasty and all, but being at an all inclusive resort there was absolutely zero green smoothies, juices, or big salads with avocado and kale. Without my mega doses of nutrition I was worried my energy would fade away.

Even though my body wasn’t getting the same amount of nutrition, there was one thing that gave me more that enough energy and had me buzzed on my toes all day long. And no it’s not coffee 😉

The one thing that kept me buzzed with energy all day long was my primary foods.

Primary foods are everything else in life that feeds our body and soul; spirituality, relationships, career and physical activity.

Do you remember playing outside as a kid and hearing your mom call you in for dinner. You were having such a blast that the last thing on your mind was food.

Times have changed so much that we are accustomed to eating as a way to fuel our body for “complete” energy. Whole foods are definitely an important fuel for our body, but a job or relationship that takes a lot of energy out of you, or a lack of physical activity and spirituality can leave you depleted more than ever, no matter how much kale or broccoli you eat.

Being disconnected from all the technological noise that Facebook, texts and emails can bring allowed me to soak up so much more Vit L (love) and really feed my primary foods.

It wasn’t until I got back home that my energy dropped and my zest for life slowly faded away. It made me realize that I needed to re-evaluate my agenda and the relationships in my life. I needed to add more excitement by taking more time to do things for me and trim our the relationships that are not supporting me or my lifestyle.

Check out the circle of life to see which areas of your life needs a little extra T.L.C to help bring things back to balance.

Place a dot on the line for each section to designate how satisfied you are with that aspect of your life. A dot placed towards the center of the circle indicates dissatisfaction, while a dot placed towards the periphery indicates ultimate happiness. When you have placed a dot on each line, connect the dots to see your circle of life.

Now you have a clear visual of any areas that may need your attention.
