THE BEST Darn Chocolate Sauce Ever!

THE BEST Darn Chocolate Sauce Ever!

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love chocolate? It’s creamy, and rich, and comes in almost every flavor you can imagine. Aside from being so darn tasty, it’s also an instant mood booster from all the serotonin it releases in the brain; comfort food is real my friend. As delicious as this sounds, the downfall to this treat is that it’s often LOADED with way too much sugar and chemicals we can’t even pronounce. Not to forget, after that mood boost from all the sugar comes a crash that can leave you feeling tired, unhealthy and at times a little d.u.m.b.

As a business owner and nutrition coach it’s really important to me that I nourish myself and help others to eat foods that provide energy and allow the mind to think clearly. Since chocolate is one of my favorite treats I was determined to come up with a recipe that was not only delicious, but made from ingredients that leave you feeling good and guilt-free.

Here is the recipe for the best darn chocolate sauce in the world 😉

serves 2-4 (depending on your love for chocolate)

  • 6 tbs organic coconut oil (melted)
  • 6 tbs organic and fair trade cocoa powder
  • 4 tbs organic maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbs of water (start with 1 and if you like it smoother add a second)
  • cracked pepper
  • 1/8 – 1/4 pink sea salt

Step 1) Melt the coconut oil (i placed mine in a bowl over boiling water)

Step 2) Once coconut oil is melted slowly whisk in the cocoa powder

Step 3) Whisk in the maple syrup

Step 4) add your first tablespoon of water, if texture is too thick add a little more water

Step 5) a little cracked pepper and adjust sea salt to your liking.

For extra flavor try adding some ginger, cayenne pepper and even fresh basil  🙂

Bon appetit my chocolate lovers!

If There is One Thing You Do For Your Health -Let it be This

There’s a moment in the morning when we are half awake, half asleep and not quite fully conscious. At those moments, we have access to our unconscious mind and our inner workings. This my friend is your inner compass to creating the healthy and fulfilled life you crave.

This is an exercise by Julia Cameron that I learnt about in school; it helped me get clear with which unhealthy habits and relationships I needed to remove from my life, it filled my heart with gratitude and taught me that optimal health comes when we are living our passion and appreciate all the beauty in life… I know it will do just the same for you 🙂 Here’s how it works:

The moment you wake up write down any memories you may have of your dreams. At first there may be nothing, or simply minor recollections, but as you do this over and over you will build the muscle. You’ll be sending a powerful message to your brain: I am prepared to accept my unconscious thoughts and feelings, and I accept that more and more will be revealed. You will develop a deep, direct relationship with your inner self and unlock unconscious thoughts and feelings. Our thoughts and feelings will always give us the answers we search for, we just need to connect with ourselves and listen.

Next write 10 things you are grateful for from yesterday. It’s so easy to forget how much we already have and how amazing life already is. By reminding ourselves of the these things we create a strong sense of happiness which truthfully will grow to be stronger and attract your truest desires.

Next comes the stream of consciousness writing. Write for at least a page, maybe two. Write whatever crosses your mind, goals, challenges or decisions you might be facing, a daily to-do list. Nothing is too pretty, too bad or too silly. Nobody will be reading this, so write it all. No censoring. All the angry, ugly stuff that you write in the morning would otherwise stand in the way of you being your best self.

By doing early morning pages, you get all those repressed thoughts out of your system so you can live your life and realize that you are not your thoughts, you are a spiritual being in a material world, moving forward towards the life you deserve, which is the life you’re meant to live.

Keep your notebook and pen by your bed and let the thoughts flow

The 3 Most Important List To Write Before Jan 1st -Video

Dearest friends,

This year has been a year to never forget, so many new opportunities and amazing people have entered my life and a big part of it has to do with 3 list I created last December. I am so grateful to have you apart of my life journey and have been waiting for the perfect moment to share this with you. From my heart to yours I share with you the three most important list to write before Jan 1st. As simple as it is, it has made some of the greatest impact on what I classify as the best year of my life. Feel free to share with family and friends 🙂

Write out everything you have done in 2014 that you are proud of and grateful for. Reflect back on everything! Something you were terrified to do, but did anyways. Nothing is too small to list; this was your year so be proud and thank yourself for all that you’ve done to help make yourself a better you.

Write out feelings, thoughts, beliefs, habits and relationships that don’t serve you. This is a prime opportunity to “trim the fat” in your life; remove anything that is remotely holding you back from becoming your absolutely best self.  Once you’ve made this list sever those ties. There are so many opportunities waiting to make their way into your world, you just need to make room for them.

List the things you want most for yourself in 2015. New career, more income, travel time, events, think big, think about what your heart desires most. While writing out your goals include how each one makes you feel. Tying-in how your goal makes you feel will make you that much more ambitious to achieve it. Keep this list close so you can add new goals throughout the year as well as a reminder to what you want most. When it comes time to make significant choices or if you find yourself feeling lost, refer back to this list to see if your life aligns with what you truly want.

To a new year filled with loving relationships, healthy habits and a career that makes you thrive!

Coconut Curry Rice Noodle Soup

Coconut Curry Rice Noodle Soup

Cayenne, curry, turmeric and ginger are four of my most favorite spices to cook with. Their health and beauty promoting benefits are endless! Cayenne has been stated as “the one” spice to master because it’s healing properties are so incredibly powerful. It naturally increases the body’s metabolic rate, breaks down mucus and rids the body of pathogens and toxins. If you’re looking to lose weight, cleanse or kill off candida this is your go to spice. Curry, turmeric and ginger are also just amazing, improved digestion, soothing inflammation and increased mental alertness is just the beginning with these three. Enjoy the warmth of this soup on a cold winter day and know that your body is healing in so many ways.

My girlfriend and I made this recipe from scratch over the weekend, feel free to add, adjust, or remove anything to your liking.

Sneak Peek Of Lake Country Family Dentistry Juice Workshop

Yesterday I had the great opportunity to share my knowledge and passion with the staff at Lake Country Family Dentistry about juicing and all it has to offer. Here’s a little of what I shared during the workshop, including a mini breakdown of my personal journey.

teaching at juice workshop

Juicing is one of the first things I advise to anyone struggling with dis-ease. From arthritic pain, to severe depression, weight loss, diabetes, extreme fatigue or even cancer; juicing will benefit all! When I first stated my juicing journey my adrenals were burnt out and my thyroid was functioning at a slower rate, also know as hypothyroidism. As a result I was sleeping 14 hours a day, my hair was incredibly brittle and I was constantly struggling with my skin. Adjusting my lifestyle and diet started doing great things for me, but juicing is what truly brought everything to a whole new level. I started drinking 2 cups of fresh veggie juice first thing in the morning for about 3 months straight. Those 90 days completely changed my life; I’m talking unlimited energy, mental clarity, a radiant complexion + my hair is now shinier and more voluminous than ever. From my personal experience juicing is the fountain of youth, your #1 beauty, brains & optimal health solution.

Here’s a little breakdown explaining what juicing is and  why it will benefit you.

What is Juicing???

Juicing is the process of “liberating” the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytochemicals from its fiber. Leaving you with a liquid concentration of live whole foods.

Why we Should Juice:

  • Our bodies are over fed yet our cells are nutritionally starved.  Consuming processed foods, or even being a rushed anxious eater will leave the foods you eat undigested in the intestinal track. This makes it hard for the body to absorb nutrients, even when eating whole foods! Because juicing has no fiber the nutrients are absorbed into the blood stream within 15-20 min. Nutrition guaranteed! Juicing will clean out the intestinal track removing the build-up so in good time your body will be absorbing even more nutrition from the whole foods you eat.
  • Our body strives to be at a balance of 7.365 on the scale of acidity/alkalinity.  Veggie juice is approximate 9.0 on the scale of alkalinity which makes it the perfect remedy for removing excess acidity in the body. Excess acidity is what leads to inflammation and dis-ease + excess “weight” (you’re not over weight, you’re over acidic, get juicing!).
  • Every single cell in your body bathes in your blood, which is made each day from what you eat, drink, breath and absorb… So if you ate a McDonald’s cheeseburger today and chased it with a cola, the blood cells your body generates today are going to be made in part of materials from that cheeseburger and coke.  Our blood cells keep working for us for approximately  5-6 months, so what you eat today will be coursing throughout your veins for the next few months. Which is why we must choose the foods we eat wisely my friend. By incorporating veggie juice into your diet your cells will be bathing in a concentration of fresh living nutrients.

Healthy blood = great sleep, sex, mood, cognitive function, as well as a cancer free, disease free, beautiful, youthful, energized you.

I created this juicing workshop because I was so astonished with how much juicing transformed my health. I feel that it’s my obligation to share my experience and the knowledge I’ve come to learn about the relation between food and the connection is has on our body.
