THE BEST Darn Chocolate Sauce Ever!
Let’s face it, who doesn’t love chocolate? It’s creamy, and rich, and comes in almost every flavor you can imagine. Aside from being so darn tasty, it’s also an instant mood booster from all the serotonin it releases in the brain; comfort food is real my friend. As delicious as this sounds, the downfall to this treat is that it’s often LOADED with way too much sugar and chemicals we can’t even pronounce. Not to forget, after that mood boost from all the sugar comes a crash that can leave you feeling tired, unhealthy and at times a little d.u.m.b.
As a business owner and nutrition coach it’s really important to me that I nourish myself and help others to eat foods that provide energy and allow the mind to think clearly. Since chocolate is one of my favorite treats I was determined to come up with a recipe that was not only delicious, but made from ingredients that leave you feeling good and guilt-free.
Here is the recipe for the best darn chocolate sauce in the world 😉
serves 2-4 (depending on your love for chocolate)
- 6 tbs organic coconut oil (melted)
- 6 tbs organic and fair trade cocoa powder
- 4 tbs organic maple syrup
- 1-2 tbs of water (start with 1 and if you like it smoother add a second)
- cracked pepper
- 1/8 – 1/4 pink sea salt
Step 1) Melt the coconut oil (i placed mine in a bowl over boiling water)
Step 2) Once coconut oil is melted slowly whisk in the cocoa powder
Step 3) Whisk in the maple syrup
Step 4) add your first tablespoon of water, if texture is too thick add a little more water
Step 5) a little cracked pepper and adjust sea salt to your liking.
For extra flavor try adding some ginger, cayenne pepper and even fresh basil 🙂
